I've never ran cross country before but I will this year, I'm more of a road racer. Do you recommend cross country spikes for dirt courses? For example the Mt. Sac course or the Woodward Park California course?

Got a 10k race this Sunday, 8 mile on 8th of Sept, 7 miler 22nd of Sept, 16miler Oct 20th and another 10k 24th of Nov let me know is it good to have so many races together
QD: Wickham 10K which I used as a training race as it was pretty hilly, managed to scrape 6th in 39:22 which I was happy with as I was targeting 39:30!
I did a beer mile race. It was challenging, especially since I don't get to practice much with beer chugging. Can't say it fits in all that great with my Chicago training…

QD: no race but , did run my first trail yesterday. 🤘
QOD: had my first ultra. 50k. Was pretty hot/humid. 4,500 ft of elevation. Considering I’ve never raced anything longer than a half marathon, I think I did pretty good. Finished just under 6hrs and top 15. Was pretty awesome!

Question: I’m a high school xc runner in my junior year. My training has been going well and I’ve been staying healthy except for one thing. My breathing seems to be off. I feel like I can’t take a deep breath. Some days it’s better and some days it’s worse. Some days, it feels like I’m only using 1/2 of my lung capacity. NOT GOOD.
Questions: (all answers/opinions welcome) I have been running for around 2.5 years. Last summer, I just ran whatever and decided last minute to do xc. This summer, I have built up my weekly mileage to 50mi last week. My xc coach is… Let’s just say very hands off. Not allot of people take xc seriously but I do and want to do better than last year. Question 1. How do I stay fresh/ready for a race when I race 2-3 times a week with workouts in between? Question 2. How do I build my resistance to running faster.
